burning bright; thriller, drama. this took its time to get going, from the box you kind of knew where it was going to go and it was just a matter of getting there. they did their best to stall it as long as possible and as unbelievable as this film was it wasn't that bad. there were a few basic errors in recording and one or two glitches in the ideas stage but if this was in the mid priced range i might pick it up again. 53/100 IMDB

end of the line; horror, thriller. ok, a straight to dvd one tonight. it was late, i had just returned from 4 nights on and i wanted something that was light and unchallenging. it starts off as it means to go on. low budget, easy on the thinking and i could go for a piss without having missed anything crucial. still. i only paid 50p for this and knowing what i know about it now i would still rent it again over anything in the 0-10's. no IMDB, it's just too shit. 40/100
yo video guy, ive been away, i am away a lot these days. did you get my postcard? i just put on it `video guy-blackpool` yopu should get it soon.
i saw the devil/ akmareul boatda; from korea, the subs were so-so but not a moment of this was wasted. really well written because to make a statement about moments would suggest an overkeen editor but no, this was great. brutal and speedy. the protagonist was fantastic, really fantastic. sure it had its curiosities but that comes with most things from this end of the world, but as it went, in its asian horror-ness; it went with a bang, or rather a slice and a chop. well worth my money, and yours. if you can find it, get it. 84/100 IMDB
back after a spell video guy. don't know where the time has gone. shame you couldn't make frightfest dude but....business is business.....i guess. next year? maybe.
shutter, horror, thriller. i managed to get hold of this Thai horror through video guy (of course) and, as it is, i havent seen the US remake yet so i was doubly excited. being called `shutter` it can only be about a few things in this small world and my first guess was spot on though that did didn't spoil things, it rarely does. what i can say is that i can't see hollywood making this any better. this was perfect, for what it was; it was well made and executed and i can't see the need for an english speaking version of events. if you can't read the subs- go to school, if you're just in it for the horror- what's the problem? as i said i havent seen the remake but you can bet your nelly it won't be as good as this one. get it, ask for it and don't be satisfied until they provide it. the customer is king, after all. don't forget. 81/100 IMDB
Katalin Varga, drama/ crime/ thriller; Now I waited and waited for this, and now, I got it. This was a story with an ending. Romanian/ Hungarian (sub’s) film written and directed by peter Strickland (uk); this lent itself to easy conclusions and emotions. it's as far from Hollywood as you can get, film wise and It’s indie, make no mistake; it will leave you screaming “why did’nt you just say it it?” among others, at the screen, but for all the will in the world, it couldn’t go on. this was a story with a full stop at the end. I would watch this again, wherever/ whenever it was on again. Worth your money if you can find it. 73/100 IMDB
video guy, you're going to have to work hard to please me this august man, coz i got films on my mind.....
cloverfield, horror, thriller; i watched this when it first came out but the blog itself hadn't been born then so i watched it again. another handheld camera film, this leaves me hungry and doesn't really hit the spots that say, .rec or quarantine did. as an idea it's ok but it came too late in the day and gave too little after .rec. by then the whole thing had moved on to a totally different level.....but if you were to go on a handheld camera movie weekend, i would start with this one. 72/100 IMDB
long time no see video guy, ive been working real hard man with no sign of a let up but no fear man, hang in there and it will quieten down.
outcast; horror/ thriller/occult, ......hmmm i got this on a whim and it was between 2 but i went with this. scottish/irish horror with james nesbit and....yeah, as it went on...yeah i kind of got into it. it explained everything but viewers in the u.s may struggle with the dialect in places. had some great shots of a downtrodden scottish council estate and had a pretty good story interwoven into it; the only trouble i had with it was it wasn't quite meaty enough for the weight of its load, maybe they will make another and this will rectify it, i don't know. as it was, 59/100 IMDB
shuttle, horror/ thriller, now i watched this some time ago and, once again totally forgot about it. so rented it again and found out. the thing is (and this is becoming a pattern) this was so much better the 2nd time round. i think the last time i watched it i was complacent about movies and maybe took them for granted a little; plus i had a totally different agenda watching them back then, but now they're all coming alive. this is definitely worth a whirl, sure it's simple, sure it's sometimes (durrr...why would you do that) obvious; but, and this is by no means a small `but` to a horror blogger; there is so much total crap out there and so much stuff that is so up its own anus that when you come across something simple and in it for the love of it you should give it your time. 68/100 IMDB
hey video guy, you knew...and you never said coz you knew....damn! you're good.
fritt vilt 2/ cold prey 2; horror, thriller; as ive said before it's natural to compare one with another, usually the previous offering and usually, well, sometimes the first one is better. this sequel knocks spots off the first one, which i really didn't enjoy. then whether it goes that if you liked the first one you will hate this one remains to be seen. worth your money, easily. 77/100 IMDB
i got a bag of m & ms free, coz i took 3 films. winner, thanks vg.
